5 Ways To Live Life To Its Fullest Potential

Life is precious and the truth is we don’t really know how long we have here. It doesn’t always matter how old you are or how well you take care of yourself, life can change in the blink of an eye which is why I strive to live each moment to its fullest. There are so many ways to live life to its fullest potential, but here are five of my favourites:

1. Travel

Traveling is one of the best ways to feel alive and renewed. You can learn so much about yourself, what you want out of life and what inspires you through travel. Trying different foods, seeing new sites and learning about other cultures changes you and I think helps you grow as an individual. If you are fortunate enough to be able to travel all over the world, embrace all of those incredible adventures. Even taking a road trip every once in awhile will break up the monotony of day to day life and bring excitement into your world. It gives you something to look forward to and something to remember.

2. Don’t Stop Learning

Life is about growing and expanding as an individual and the best way to do that is to challenge yourself and to take chances. If you aren’t willing to get out of your comfort zone every once in awhile, life has a tendency of becoming mundane. Excitment comes from learning something new. And trust me, you are never too old to learn something new! At 60 years old, my dad decided he wanted to learn how to play the saxophone (although he had never played an instrument or read music in his entire life)! A few years later it has become one of his favourite activities and he has even gotten up the nerve to do a few solos in shows his band puts on. Needless to say I am very proud of him! I challenge you to do something new this month and see how much excitment it brings to your life.

3. Live Without Regret

Sometimes people hold themselves back for many different reasons. Maybe they are afraid of failure, maybe they are worried about what other people might think or maybe the idea of success scares them (trust me, it is a lot more common than you would think)! In order to live a truly fulfilling life I think one of the most important things is to live without regret and to stop worrying so much. Making mistakes is a part of being human. I think if you dwell on things that have or could go wrong rather than taking a chance and learning from experiences, you limit yourself and don’t grow as much. Not to mention if you are always worrying about things you won’t enjoy the moment you are living in. Living without regret allows you to grow and to be happy.

4. Spend Time Doing Things You Love

We all have responsibilities and things that we have to do but I think it is important to carve out a bit of time every week to do something that you love. It could be spending time with friends and loved ones, doing yoga, going for a walk, doing a hobby, reading a book – honestly whatever it is that you love to do. Spending time doing things you love on a regular basis renews your spirit, makes it easier to get through all the responsibilities that you have to do and makes life more enjoyable overall. I think consistently making time for you and doing things that you love creates more passion for life and thereby creates a more fulfilling life.

5. Be Grateful

I am a huge supporter of practicing gratitude daily. Not only have I seen first hand how it has transformed my life, I have seen it change the lives of people around me. This definitely doesn’t mean that your life is perfect or that you have to act like it is. The idea is rather than focusing on things that are not good in your life at that moment, focus and appreciate the things that are good in your life. Even just starting each day consiously acknowledging and being thankful that you are blessed to be alive to live that new day is very powerful. A lot of people take it for granted and don’t realize how much of a blessing being alive and healthy really is. If you pause and actually think about it and be grateful each morning it will have a positive impact on the rest of your day and your life. I think having a positive mindset is probably the most important element of living a fulfilling life because regardless of any challenges you may face, if you approach life through gratitude you will be able to get through anything with grace.
